What does a vape detector look like Detectors are used in schools, hotels, hospitals and other public/private spaces to monitor the presence of e-cigarette vapor. The devices use laser scattering PM2.5 sensors to detect vapor particles emitted from the disposable and rechargeable vaping device. They also have gas sensors to detect specific gases including nicotine, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin.
The SV20 Series Air Quality Sensors also measure temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide and light. The SV23 adds AQI, TVOC, motion, noise, ozone and barometric pressure to the mix. The ozone sensor has the added benefit of being highly sensitive to ozone generated by combustion activities such as vaping or smoking.
What Does a Vape Detector Look Like?
A vape detector looks similar in appearance to a smoke alarm. They are typically circular or square-shaped and made of plastic or metal, with a blinking light or sound alarm. However, the key difference between vape detectors and other smoke/carbon monoxide alarms is that they don’t sound an alarm when triggered. Vape detectors are specifically designed to be camouflaged, stay under the radar and perform their detection task in silent mode.
Vape detectors can be set up in the same locations as smoke and CO detectors, including hallways, classrooms, bathrooms and other common areas. They can even be integrated into ventilation and air quality systems. They can be customized to fit the specific needs of each space, for example using PM2.5 sensors with enhanced sensitivity to vapor particles as well as specialized carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide detectors.
